So I got ahead of myself and glued the bridge on a uke project before drilling the holes for strings. I've attached a couple pics.
The options I'm considering are making it a pin bridge.... If so, do I need to thin the pin area before drilling and countersinking? I'm not sure I can get a decent break angle over the saddle if I just drill it as is. Second option might be to just drill 1/16" holes where pins would go, and basically have the strings go through the bridge/top/bridge plate the same way a pin would...I guess it would be a pinless bridge. Finally, if there were a way to clear the lower 4" of body, I could still place the string holes as originally intended, like a classical tie-block.

You can get extra long drill bits down to 1/16".

do you have a dremmel ? Mine has a flexable attachment that you can mount a drill bit in and drill those with no problem i bet .

Those long bits will work. Wud, I did try the flex shaft on my Dremel outfit and the handle is too large without a long bit.

Todd, that is exactly what I will do. I was worried about stiffness and accuracy with a long bit.
.25" ID tubing seems small to accept the shank, but it obviously worked for you. Thanks for another great mini-tut. I appreciate the time everyone took to read and respond!

Todd's jig worked like a charm! The only part that wasn't smooth was when I superglued my finger to the apparatus. Luckily, I keep a big can of acetone in the shop (not my first rodeo).
I now have string holes in the bridge...thanks again, Todd!
