Can you remove the entire front of the headstock and glue it on as the faceplate on a new neck?

Thanks

Yeah probably . Was hoping for other options to avoid building a neck

I'm sure someone else has a better way to address the twisting. I'm just throwing out ideas.

You can play around with heat treatment. For the cost of pulling, making , installing and setting up a new neck.....he could just buy a new one for that. Apparently he's not the original owner.

Do something like this:

http://www.bestbassgear.com/ebass/repai ... esign.html

Just because the neck is twisted doesn't mean the guitar has to be unplayable. Just fix the string paths. bliss

If you want to preserve the originality of the instrument as much as possible, remove the fingerboard, plane the neck true, and re-install the fingerboard. I believe I saw something like that on Frank Ford's website. At that time you could also install neck reinforcement if you think it necessary.

Update , Looking down the neck from head stock , it does appear to have a slight twist . HOWEVER , when I did some checking with Parallel's its not twisted . The Bridge on the J35 is an angled bridge and the Saddle has been ground down on an angle as well " not factory " the whole thing creates an optical illusion . oops_sign

Because someone messed with the bridge the action above fret at 1st string is .040 and at 6th is . 058 and he wonders why it buzzes ... Also , whoever messed with it before loosened the truss rod nut to the point it was about to fall off ..... gaah New Saddle ordered ... Reset to proper string height and a little truss rod action and it should be in excellent shape. [:Y:]

Btw , where he had it worked on before was a "Reputable " Guitar store ... Sad
