at one of our zoom meetings I mentioned plans to make a guitar out of scrap from our deck build.
Cedar top, rosseta, sides, back, and neck with ziricote finger board, bridge and head plate and walnut for the binding and rings on the rosseta.

Good job!! Looks good. It’s alot of work to mill up all that cedar and turn it into a guitar. Pretty cool that it came from your house!

Nice. I bet it is light, and smells good!
Is the pickguard cedar too? That might be my only worry as it dents and scratches so easily. But I guess then you put a new one on once in a while, if needs be.
Thanks for sharing.

Looks great Dave. I'll bet it sounds good and is light as a feather!

Thanks Mark, It weighs about 3lb 5oz. Good point about the pick guard the main part is maple inlays are walnut mahogany and 2x4. Made it several years ago inspired by one I saw online

I must build light. My little Padauk Stauffer is only 2.5 pounds; but it is small. My 16” redwood/maple arch top is 3 lb, 12 oz.
I've made viola bellies out of cedar decking, and it worked great; I have a small Torres neck made of cedar. Don't know how that worked yet.

Funny, I was just thinking about that song by the Fixx and mentioning it in the blog post for tomorrow.
