Just checked the path of one of the images that does resolve....http://www.luthiersforum.com/homeimages/Ad1.jpg

When specifically addressing a missing image via the URL I get:

Not Found

The requested URL /homeimages/Sponsoredby.gif was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I think you actually lost some image files...

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
