I set up the stroke mechanism on ours using a cam action. There's a spring loaded buffer bar to compensate for wear and also allow fine adjust using shims --- you can see my very high tech card stock and masking tape shim on the slide stop. I should really confess that this device was built several years ago as a concept model -- the principles involved and the design road map put forth by Frank Ford where so good that we just continue to use this in production.

So, I really like ur machine. I'd even buy a 14" saw to make it work. You put a lot of CNC effort into doing this. I understand the risk. What do you think is a fair price for the parts, minus the motor. Holes drilled in base for assembly. You can sell this. Some will buy. I'm a mechanical engineer. Pretty sure I could do final adjustments to get working.

Mike,

Sorry if this sounds harsh...

My main focus is building instruments. I'm not really interested in making tools for others.

Secondly, I refuse to work with poor quality materials. The fixture in the vid is made with ultra-lite plywood with the final veneer being a thin high pressure laminate. Not $20US a sheet (MDF) product, more like $100US.

I was having a conversation with a highly regarded high end builder (he does build beautiful stuff) on the forum about my side bender design. His quote was "Wow! That's a tool designed to last a lifetime". I gave him a quote and never heard a peep even though it was priced competitively with the Lmii bender. [headinwall]

Have you got a CNC machine? Maybe I could license you a copy of the vectors...

Best, M

Never feel good about anything when someone says "sorry if this sounds harsh"

Point taken.

Enjoy your building.

Mike -- just curious, being the consumer what would you consider a fair enough price for the gizmo parts package that you would click the "add to cart" button?
