Ah, I see that Steve is in Cobourg, where the 401 drops from 3 lanes to two! Ha! That's a little Canadian highway humour there. ;)

I wonder how solid it is though. Have you ever tried it Steve? I had found that regular paper (cut into strips) just wasn't tenacious enough and would always tear. I wound up settling with 3M Gold backed with untearable packing tape. I guess one could always just add the tape backing to this one too.

In my experience regular paper backed with the packing tape works just fine.

According to the Lee Valley site, it's cloth-backed, so I'm assuming it will hold up pretty well.

That roll is cloth-backed. Standard issue at any Woodcraft, or any place that sells lathe stuff for wood. It is frequently used when turning shafts, like pens, etc. Do note, it is rather thick since it is cloth-backed.

I use regular sand paper backed with clear pickguard scraps, always plenty of left over material after cutting a few pickguards from the sheet.
