The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

I've had a toothpaste vs Jock Itch cream incident. Same size and color tubes. Both in the bottom of my shaving kit. Didn't want to turn on the lights to wake my wife. Didn't realize the mistake until it was too late. [xx(]

At our house it was my wife late to work, racing like a bat out of...."Scrubbing Bubbles" cleaner instead of hairspray (evidently you close your eyes when you spray hair spray).
Her head just kept growing larger and larger and whiter and whiter.
And I'm supposed to not laugh?

Course it's still there. Now that I know to feel for the right tube it's all good. Did I mention that loctite tastes somewhat sweet? Though the aftertaste really lingers...
