Hi quick question
3 a side tuners (mach heads) do you tend align them all straight or have the 2 lowest on the head slightly further out to avoid strings from the middle pegs hitting them

Cheers

I see it as a personal choice.

I've only had one client complain about the strings passing very close to the E turing posts. I explained the Martin alternative, and he understood the trade off. My headstock is basically Martin shaped. If I'm doing a commission, I will give them the choice.

Best, M

Cable: I move the center two in about 1/16" or so. That's for a Martin style headstock.

I think it's a personal choice. Three-on-a-plate tuners probably look a little better from the back side if the plates run parallel to the edges of the head. But you normally won't see or pay much attention to the back of the head. The posts will naturally be in a straight line from the front, too, but it's less conspicuous if that line isn't parallel to the edge. I think you can please yourself either way. Alternatively, get individual tuning machines and space them as you wish.

Hmmm...maybe three on a plate was my assumption. Cablepuller actually said "three on a side", so maybe he meant individual left and right side tuners.
