Waterborne finishes ARE the finishes of the future, if political and environmental regulators have their way...
Not that it a bad thing. We've done enough as a species to poison the environment over the last couple of centuries, so balance is needed.

Careful Don my friend that's a bit political and besides I completely agree with you too!

So here is another myth that I am guilty of carrying myself. When I first entered the trade I assumed that Luthiers of all people were solid stewards of the limited resources of our planet. In reality when it comes to environmental issues most of the pro Luthiers that I know are indeed keen to conserve and appreciate that our planet's bounty is indeed limited. Since there is no criteria really for who calls themselves a Luthier others may not be so keen to be good stewards of our limited resources. As such Luthiers in general are just as mired in the political BS associated with climate and conservation issues as the rest of the population... sad to see....

After being here now for years and getting to know likely hundreds of OLFers I am convinced that if we did a secret poll regarding the very existence of man made climate change the divide would also be similar to the general population. Conduct this very same poll with only working in the trade Luthiers and I suspect that the results would be very different. One way to find out...

CF Martin has an excellent video on their site that I watched the other day detailing their commitment to the African Elephant and NO further use of ivory for them. Great to see and especially from an industry leader as well.
