Hello everyone. Today at my local Woodcraft, they put out two pallets of mahogany, cherry and other species of backs and sides for $2.50 a piece. Also quarter sawn pieces of Mahogany good for kerfing, tail blocks, even necks for $2.25 per pound. The owner said the wood came from Hibdon Hardwood as factory seconds.

Did you go and rent a truck, Jimmy? The only Woodcraft we have around here is a store that sells pine and oak furniture. [headinwall]

I have picked up a lot of Hibdon wood that didn't make the grade for their guitar wood; it is nice stuff. I would imagine one could find a lot of usable guitar wood in there. Don't hesitate to load up. I'll send you my address so you can send some my way for encouraging you :)

I also buy Hibdon Seconds all the time . I have found in many cases with a bit of strategic planning one can get around any defects . Only problem I have is Bryan Bear lives closer than I do and he gets all the good stuff !

Don't believe a word of what Wud is saying. I'm still miffed about him buying a curly mahogany board right out from under me (that I pointed out no less) at Hibdon.

Jim is it selfish of me if, when I first read this thread, my first thought was "I hope Jerry didn't send off all the good stuff I was planning on getting at the Black Friday sale"?

Lol Bryan I ended up 50lbs and a bunch of back and sides. I'm sure will be back. I just need to sell a kidney or something :-)
