Amazing!
I wonder do the BRW inserts go all the way thru the maple or just a vennier halfway in it? are those pieces laser cut?

Thanks so much everyone, makes me feel good that you like it. It was a bold statement and I was unsure if it was too over the top or gaudy.
To the questions: the neck joint is a bolt on, two bolts in the heel and one under the tongue. The pieces are hand cut and inlayed into the back. If you look closely you can see some irregularities. I was ok with that. At our shop we have a Cnc that could have done this job way faster and cleaner, but I liked the challenge and the hallmarks of hand work.

Sorry, I would have responded sooner, but I passed out when I saw the guitar.

WOW!!!!

Okay, I need to go lie down for a while.

I'm kind of in the same boat as George. Aside from what all the others have said, I would have to say that this is a refreshing change from the norm. This is something that I'll go back to once and a while!

This might be a bit of thread drift but do you find you have to do any additional reinforcement of the upper bout to prevent head block rotation with that neck setup Sam?
Thanks

Very cool...

If you don't mind a small bit of critique though, or question on design....

Why didn't you make the headstock veneer maple with the same BRW inlay? Looking at the headstock with the solid piece of maple as the puzzle piece(s) looks like two different quality guitars when compared to the back, side and rosette inlays..... Sorry for the critique :(

I do love it though, just would have been through the roof with the headstock inlay the same level of quality as the rest of the guitar.

Rod, my intention with this piece was to play with the idea of a guitar in progress, as most non luthiers really have no idea how a guitar is made, it may as we'll be a really complex puzzle. The maple represents the blank canvas and the Brazilian pieces, the actual back and sides. For the peg head, I didn't want to carry that motif, but to keep the standard black peg head and add negative space with the maple part. That is also mirrored in the rosette.
You could call it understated but in reality I chose that route as a creative way to not have to cut any more puzzle pieces!

This creation has been on my mind since it was first posted.
As I look at my current two projects, which are more of the same, (a 12 and a 14 fretter) I am thinking for future projects I have to get out of the box.....
Thank you for the inspiration!

Rob

That is really an original and beautiful instrument! Congratulations!!! It had to be really hard to do the puzzle part... there aren't any edge pieces or corner pieces!

A STUNNING Guitar. One of the best looking guitars I've ever seen! I love the way the colors
complement each other, and the creativity of the inlays.

That's some serious beeswax right there. AMAZING!

I'd like to see some close-ups of the puzzle pieces?
