I'll just throw this out, it's very possible that the years and needless mistakes an "expensive" lutherie course would shave off your learning curve would more than make up for the cost.

Terence, I understand your point; however, I have a ton of tools and over 40 years of experience working on cars, including the most important experience of all -- knowing when to walk away when a bolt is stuck or rusted or the blood pressure starts to rise. I'm very cautious and meticulously when wading in new waters.

Thanks Much. Your advice does not go unheeded, but you have no idea of the ridiculous fees they charge in Hollywood.

Hey Guys, I just did the first truss rod adjustment of my life about a week ago. This was on my Epiphone Masterbilt AJ-500M. I had put on medium gauge strings for a little extra pop (I usually run lights on that guitar) and it was buzzing like crazy. Luckily it was a LOOSENING of the truss rod this time, so it was easy and not very nerve-wracking. I still need to fine-tune and dial it in, but it's sounding and playing much better now.

I'm probably gonna go back to lights on that guitar, which will give me the opportunity to adjust the truss rod in the opposite direction in a few weeks. Thanks for the support. Scott

you might want to go hang out at Mc Cabes. -maybe talk with Matt.

hollywood? you mean GIT? very expensive. on the other hand Kathy Wingert used to drop in on classes. imo, i'd suggest putting that money into tools and books.

otherwise get a couple of good books and some beaters and practice.
