I have a big problem. I am installing pickups and I use Velcro to attach the battery case and hold cables in place. It is very strong at first but it would always fall off a day later. I need to know what works

first clean the area you want to instal the pack on. I like naphtha. If they keep coming off you may need to apply something on the wood. I have used a drop of CA and used it like a paint then the double stick stuff seemed to hold better

I did that, it did not make a difference. I think the adhesive doesn't stick well to wood. I'm thinking to hot glue a peice of plastic to the wood...

By the way what double sided tape works well for pick guards? I'm having trouble with pick guards lifting too. I'm using the Stewmac stuff and it does not hold at all

Do you know which type of adhesive your velcro had on it? Check their guide on this page - the PDF.

It sounds like you may have some contamination on the guitar. First suspect is silicone... if it is a clients guitar, they may have used Pledge funiture polish which contains a ton of it and should never be used on a guitar for the reason you are describing. Most automotive wax also contains silicone and should not be used either. If it is silicone it will be nearly impossible to get double stick tape to stick to wood. For the outside you should use automotive wax and grease remover. You should go over it at least 3 times using clean rags each time so you don't re-contaminate it and throw the rags away.

That is the only way I know that 3M double stick tape will not stick because that stuff will stick to anything as long as it doesn't have wax on it and is clean and dust free.

Hope you get it sorted
Bob
