I'm buying some acoustic set African blackwood and have it narrowed down to Prosono, Gilmer and LMI.

Does anyone have experience with both and have a preference? Prosono and LMI seem pricier, and Gilmer has more 2-piece sets, but have heard good things about LMI. Prosono is way over in South Africa, so shipping issues/climate etc.
Thanks.

I've purchased from both and have nothing but praise for both companies. Everything has been as expected. No BS. No drama.

I think they both will stand behind what they sell. If the end price is the same, I don't see any difference, assuming each set is equivalent.

I do know that Gilmer tags on an additional $10 per package on top of the actual shipping charge FWIW.

Gilmer. LMI's wood prices are too high, although they are my go-to place for just about everything else :)

Another good option is 4 piece backs from Hibdon. I don't see a price list on their website anymore, but at least when I bought one a few years ago it was $355.

Have you seen the sets available here: http://www.hibdonhardwood.com/collectio ... -side-sets

These people are awesome to do business with.

Cool, took a look at Hibdon. They are even more expensive than LMI. Some great looking stuff though. I've heard a lot of general positive referrals to LMI. Nothing against the others, but LMI seems to be the name that pops up. I do like how Hibdon marks (clearly) the holes.

I guess I should be asking with experiences of how dry the wood was and if there's cracking. Especially important in regards to ABW. Thanks again for all the help.

Yeah, but I don't know anything about them. Quality? Cracking? I know they only accept bank wire too.
