Up to your usual exceptional fine standard I see Fred.
That finish looks wonderful. [clap]

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Beautiful Fred. You've been busy... Is it my monitor or is that Evo fret wire?

Yes I do my own finishing

Yes the bridge is crooked 8-), goes with the crooked fret slots and nut. Takes some getting used to but looks better than the 27/25 fan fret I did a couple years ago.

Yes EVO fret wire

Fred

Beauty Fred, as well as the other! I'd love to play one sometime. I've never had one in my hands. Do you just sand your own Ebony veneer for the bevel?

Nice job Fred. I think I saw you name down on the list for the Elmira show this weekend. My guess is you'll have this one there this weekend? I'll be there with a few guitars and my luthier supplies.

Nice pair of guitars there Fred.

I am curious how the fan frets feel compared to normal ones? Do they take time to adjust to playing or does it just feel natural?

Love the wood selection on both.

Cheers,
Bob

Fred, what finish did you use, and what binding material? Oh, did you just press the back plate into the curved volute?

Beautiful work.

The 1" spread is almost unnoticed, I did a 2" spread and it is much more noticeable.

The finish is Mohawk nito over West systems pore fill with shellac sealer coat.

The binding is ebony.

The back strap overlay is prebent and pressed in place with a wood block cut to the shape and used as a sanding block to final shape the back of the headstock.

Fred

Two guitars posted in less than a week - cutaways and bevels on both. Fred, this one is just as good as that quilted maple guitar I admired so much. Seems like you've got that finishing thing down (wish I did). I will admit that the slanted bridge throws me off a bit, but I find the fanned frets appealing - just fickle I guess.

I love the way you positioned the sapwood on the sides. It really flows with the bevel. Is the body asymmetrical?
