Hello friends.
i hope all of you are doing fine.

in india now the temperature in afternoon is about 39-40 degree celcius and the moisture drops to some time 10 %.
my workshop has asbestos roof and becomes very hot in afternoon.
in afternoon the sun is exactly at the centre of my window. so i close it and sprinkle some water on the walls
and has curtain on the window which i make it wet too.
then the moisture goes to about 45-50%, but again after sometime it is as usual.
at night temp is about 26-30 degree celsius and moisture is about 25-30 %.
i want to know how to increase the moisture content of air in the workshop.
pls i need ur help to maintian the humidity level.

I use 2 humidifiers for 4-5 months of the year in my assembly area.Get one that you can set automatically to constantly register at abt 45 % humidity during dry season.

If you can get humidifiers, that is the easy way to go. The other easy option that could serve 2 proposes is an evaporative cooler. These work on the same principle as many humidifiers but on a larger scale. They will also cool your shop off. I have a friend with a large shop that uses an evaporative cooler to humidify his shop. If neither one of those or available, you can make an evaporative humidifier by circulating water over an evaporating media like a towel and blow air over it. Let the water drip back down into a Reservoir.

I have the opposite problem... humidity is never below 80%

The ones that have a humidistat are pretty useless. Those humidistats are never right. The ones I have aren't even within 10% of the right humidity. Both of mine when set the the lowest humidity setting available just run all the time. I have to manually slow them down or cut them off if the humidity gets too high. I think the biggest problem is that they are designed for "comfort level" humidity in the 50 - 60 % range, which is useless to us.

Air conditioning dries out the air, not much use to you.
An evaporative cooler, makes it more humid and cools at the same time.
Make sure you have the walls/windows/doors vapour sealed and preferable reasonably insulated or you will be trying to humidify and cool the whole of India, or at least Pune.
Use with an external humidistat to cut the power on increasing humidity.
My external humidistat (Honeywell) can be set to work on increasing or decreasing humidity.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
