Totally agree that there is some amazing work going on here.

And totally agree about the stunning quality of that sapele David. Mother nature out did herself with that wood, and you're doing her justice with the quality of your work!

Phil

Went a little Irish with my first attempt at "Dublin" sides :)

Cocobolo with hog guts. I was impressed by how easily the wood bends at .060" thick and then how extremely stiff it is once laminated. I have a feeling I'll never do another build with non lam sides. Especially considering how easy it was.

Thank you David. It means a great deal to me being on my first 20 instruments to receive a compliment from a builder of you stature. I've studied your work quite a bit since I started 4 years ago and admire your aesthetic, build quality and the fact that you spend the time on your photography. Yours are on my list of guitars I want to hear in person. Tim

Very nice work everyone. David, you'll have to let us know how that Sapele sounds. I have several sets of that wood I haven't built with yet.

I'm also finishing guitars. I level sanded my two latest to 1200g in preparation for buffing. If I can squeeze in enough time this week, I could have strings on by the weekend. While the shop was warm, I replaced the belts on my CNC and gave it a bit of a tune up.

Beautiful. How'd you make the channel or rabbet around the edges of that fingerboard?

Thank you Beth. This is just a typical purfling channel cut before I glued on the binding. I guess the only difference may be that the width of the purfling and BWB lines is about .100" and I preserved the fret slot out to the binding so as to minimize the "untanged" fret. Hope that makes sense. T

Rock on Jason!
I love LP's and Tele's, but Explorer's rule!

Love your Tele Doug, especially the rope purfling. Been wanting to try something similar.
