My friends, the golden moment has come. Who among you will stand on the shoulders of giants and bravely induce some self-help? This is the time to change your life. It will cost you. That $1 per month could linger over your head every day. If it didn't take courage, you wouldn't be brave. Into the breach. Find the classifieds, and click that subscribe link.

'We are all equal... But some are more equal than others ' ;)

For those brave souls, battle scarred and armed with mirror finished chisels, that feel confident of heart and with veins of steel, that venture into the darkest corners of the board - that secret place known only as 'the classifieds' - I salute you!

What mysteries it holds, I am destined never to encounter, for fear of such places and the mystery of 'payment by PayPal' will always remain beyond my grasp... I envy these fearless axe, hatchet and saw wielding brave hearts, whose quest for 'interesting bargains' humbles and shames me to the very heartwood of my modest stash of uninteresting and plain old kindling.

Such is my shame, I feel that it is only right and just that my fear and modest scripted contributions be recognisable instantly as penned from one not worthy.

Only then, in the knowledge that I stand beneath ye 'contributing' immortals will I find peace and redemption.

.... Alternatively, is anyone really bothered by a pretty standard forum acknowledgement? Seems fair enough to me... And anyway, I admire those most who have something interesting to say, build beautiful things, are helpful, humorous, post pics of goats, polite and happy to share knowledge. The presence or not of a badge, makes no real difference.

I am a member of five different forums and not all of them are guitar forums, but all of them differentiate between those who contribute monetarily and those who do not.

This is not something new or unheard of and frankly I do not understand why it bothers some to this extent. If you do not want to contribute monetarily that is your perogative and I sincerely doubt anyone will look down on you least of all Lance! I never look on the other forums to see if the person is a contributing member or not and I do not plan on starting now!

So, in conclusion, everything is going to be just fine and the world will probably last another hour or two. :D

More goat..

Wifey and I are staying at a B&B in Salida, CO this week named the Mountain Goat Lodge. They raise goats here for milk production and cheese making. She's waking me up at 6:30 so we can go watch the goats get milked. And she is taking a cheese making class. Why? Don't ask me...... But hey, I'm not going to gripe because she let me come up here to take a class on UV finishing. Heck, I'll milk a goat for that....

Tony,
I'll get you a picture for your collection

Can I contribute and still remain anonymous? I didn’t see anything indicating such in the contribution link. I prefer the wood designation to the ”Contributor Label”.

It bothers some people because they have never.grown up. They are in the "we don't keep score" little league camp -- it may hurt someone' s feelings it they lose. And they have no shame in griping about about a simple gesture of a moderater who intented no harm. I simply cannot believe it.

Hey...Michael has an interesting point. I too prefer the wooden nomenclature.
In fact, I've been whittling away at posting, hoping someday to make my family proud by becoming Old Growth Brazilian Rosewood. Ach! All that posting...
Well, how about rating the contributors?

"Cheapskate"
"Skinflint"
"Contributing Member"
"Big Spender"
"Daddy Warbucks"
"I Liked the OLF so much, I bought the Forum"

Or something like that?

Steve

Everyone who has not contributed would, by definition, be a cheapskate, no?

I think I got my "Contributing Member" button because of the goat pics.

Milking goats is overrated. I've milked enough of them to populate several fields, by hand and machine. Goats are wonderful creatures, sincerely. But their cheese smells and tastes like the inside of a sweaty armpit. I'll pass.

This begs the question, How is it that you know what the inside of a smelly arm pit tastes like? beehive

LOL! I should have said tastes like what I imagine a smelly armpit tastes like.
