I dont post very often but am here every day.
I think I figured how to post a few pics, so here goes.
Had the body closed up for a while now but have been too busy to get onto the binding.
Today the body is 95% complete
This is a gift for a friends 50th
Thanks for all the advice and incentive to keep going.

Engleman/W.Bigleaf maple quilt
Sapele/paua bindings/perf and rosette
Spalted maple end wedge,heel cap and headstock
Khaya neck bound w/ curly maple
Bolt on M&T
Rosewood fretboard

I've got a couple of sets of quilted maple, and am a guitar or two away from trying it. Your's makes me all the more excited about the prospect. Very nice maple indeed, and I also like your binding scheme.

The purfling is nice. I have to admit that I looked at it and it reminded me right away of a conversation on foroflamenco where people were discussing a body port that had been tried by a few that consisted of a top with sides resting inside a back with sides, with the inside side components (connected to the top) not reaching the other plate. The dark part of your purfling would have been the opening and the light part the supports that connected the sides and held the structure together. These actually exist. Weird, and weird reaction. :D
