Which hardwood are you using for the braces?

local name is damar minyak, Botanical name is Agathis borneensis, also known as borneo kauri is a species of conifer in the Araucariaceae family.
It can be used for Flamenco guitars too, I think its better than cypress wood.

That's great, Jeff! I always like to see people "going against the grain" and succeeding. Lovely guitars!

Hope that smoke pollution isn't getting to you. :(

Looks like LA in the 70's.

Really great creative choices Jeffrey, love the whole look and feel. Combo slot head, standard tuners? Sweet.

Another stunning looking guitar Jeff :)

The sustain on the Mango guitar on Youtube just goes on forever - beautiful looking and sounding guitar as always thanks for sharing :)

Sorry to see you have the smog and also that its going on for months to come - Forest clearing is having such an impact on the environment :(

Thanks again
Dave

That would make it a softwood, not a hardwood. IIRC, conifers are softwood and everything else is hardwood, it has nothing to do with the actual hardness or density. As strange as it may be, doug fir is a softwood and balsa is a hardwood.

Really like how this came together, nicely done!
Those are some unique braces, for sure...
Not being an engineer, I wonder how much rigidity is lost by drilling them out like that?
If lost, then maybe gained back by laminating?
Or even more if laminated with CF?
