Many want their name in the business name so they will be recognized as the luthier. i e., name recognition. If you are only going to be a guitar builder (luthier) then that is fine. However, if your business becomes largely retail or guitar repair then NOT having your name as the business name may be an advantage if you want to sell the business. I would think that a retail business called "Muir Castle Strings" would be easier to sell for more $ than "Brian Bear Guitars". Who knows what your business will consist of in 10 years? Just my opinion and I have never been wrong before.
