I have some pictures to share of my #19 build Ziricote OM with Bear Claw Sitka top. This awesome top and the one on my 00 12 fret came from Maurice Roy of Roy Tonewoods who only process salvaged woods.

That is a very nice guitar and beautiful top. It's hard to believe the wood is salvaged.

So did you apply a stain to the mohogany neck? I like the dark tint it gives off.

Well, that's just nice, isn't it? Excellent design and execution, and love the timbers.

I've got a set of Ziricote, but I haven't the faintest idea what to do with it......Was thinking an OM-sized 12-string....

May I ask how you bent the sides, and if by a machine, do you reckon they'd be OK if bending on a pipe? I've heard it called Mexican Cracking Wood, and I only have one set. It's not really very common down here...

Nick I use a Fox style bender with a heat blanket and had no issue bending this set or the cutaway set for the 00 12 fret. I touched up the cutaway area on the other guitar with a hot pip style bender and it bends fine. It is a brittle wood that will split along the grain so that is probably where the crack wood name came from.

Hey, Fred,
You always do such a nice job on your guitars. I'll click on your postings every time because I know I'm going to see something that I like a lot. Sure, I like some more than others, but they are always so nice in terms of your choices and your craftsmanship. This particular instrument has an outrageously beautiful and interesting top. Normally, I am not all that big on bear claw, but this baby transcends the usual bear claw in my opinion. And, you know, that back is pretty gentle on the eye, too! Nice choices all around. Congratulations on a beautiful instrument!
