Here's a link to an audio clip of my friend, Steve Karla, playing some killer gypsy swing on my latest build, an alpine spruce and ziricote Odalisque, which is a small-bodied guitar similar in size to an 000. Photos and a review of my finish experience upcoming in a separate thread. Enjoy!

Nice. Sounds like a well balanced guitar. I love that style too wish I had it in me to play like that.

Thanks y'all. Here are a few phone pics of it in the meantime.

Well, I thought I'd get at least one response from the photos...

Very nice! I love the bridge sculpting. One step beyond the Somogyi scoop style everyone's been doing :) Great classic blues sound.

Those armrest bevels sure are popular lately... actually, I think my smallest guitar could use one the most, because the distance from the edge to the strings results in my forearm resting on it at almost precisely 45 degrees. But the loss of symmetry still rubs me the wrong way. But perhaps on an already asymmetrical fan fret body... In any case, it looks nice and comfy with the tight waist, bevels and rounded bindings [:Y:]

wonderful guitar, and lovely rendition of "in a sentimental mood" - the guy sure has the chops!

Thanks guys. Dennis, that asymmetry thing bothers me as well, so I was very conscious of it during the design. I feel the results are still very fluid and "asymmetrically balanced".

Holy cow it looks as good as it sounds. I love the ink on the back! Looks like BR actually.

Nice workmanship Ken. Love the diamond on the back strap. Your own shape?

Cheers,
Danny

Really elegant Ken. Love the inlay at the 12th.

Beautiful, and even more important it sounds wonderful! I'm a classical guy, so I'm going to ask a stupid question. Was the playing with a pick or with fingers?

Thanks all!
Filippo -- I tweaked many a spline curve to try to achieve something unobtrusive and elegant. I'd cite David Wren and Mark Maingard as inspirations for the shape, and of course, Kevin Ryan.
Danny -- I wanted to start using a backstrap, but didn't necessarily want to give up carving the volute, so I integrated it into the backstrap, and went with a modernized interpretation. The body shape is also my design, if that's what you're asking.
Larry -- I wanted to keep the fingerboard nice and clean, and thought that design has lots of symbolic potential, and also plays off of the rosette design.
Imber -- he's using the fattest pick you can imagine -- it looks like a clamshell! Also, Steve has a super-aggressive right hand, so I'm pretty pleased it could hold up to his playing.

That guitar is a nice fit for that type of music. Congratulations! Nice crisp tonal separation. Great playing, real music, not the athletic event that frequently happens with gypsy jazz.

Yes, Terence, Steve is a great player with impeccable taste. He can certainly let fly when the occasion calls for it!

Thanks, Steve!
