Dang--I was working in the shop and the time change got me. I meant to be there but totally spaced out--looked at the clock and it was way later than I thought...

So 4 meetings so far, I think we're starting to get some traction. [:Y:]

I am so glad I blew off work and went to the meeting. Great to see everyone and the talk from the Behlen's rep (darn, I forgot his name) was very informative and answered lots of my questions. I know we all appreciated him giving up his Sunday afternoon to come talk with us. Paul's done a great job putting this together, he's got a hardwood supplier lined up for the April meeting. At the moment we're going to try to get together every 2nd Sunday afternoon at 2PM.

Dave, sorry you missed this one - at least you were in your shop ;)

Just a short note to thank everyone who made it to the meeting yseterday. Putting this little gathering together has been my pleasure. It's my way of extending what forums like the OLF have done on the net, but on a local, personal basis.
A special thanks to Dean Cardin with Behlens Finishes for giving up his Sunday afternoon and spending it with our group. His talk was very informative.
Next meeting will be 4/14/2013 @ 2PM. Hope to have another speaker scheduled. We are also looking at having mini demos by some of our more accomplished builders at future meetings.
Stay tuned.

Hello all, I've been on a bit of a luthiery hiatus for the past couple of months. Started a new job , having my third child this weekend Lord willing, and lots of other "life stuff". I regret that I have missed the last couple of meetings. The 1st one at Steve's place was a blast. I hope I can make it out to the next one. It would be great to see some of you guys again. See you guys soon I hope.

Well, it's that time again. The next meeting of the East TN Luthier Guild will be next Sunday (4-14) from 2PM-4:30PM at the Knoxville Woodcraft 8023 Kingston Pike.
Hope to have a good turn out and welcome some new members. Remember, this is at no cost. We are getting together to share our knowledge, ideas and friendship. Hopefully, something good will result.

Paul

I have a gig at Market Square earlier that day but I'll try to swing by afterwards. I'll have my performing instruments with me, some people might be interested in having a look at.

It was another great time! This time I managed to remember it in time to show up too....

At any rate, Thanks to Paul and to the Woodcraft management for having us. It was nice to get another chance to see what folks are building and to compare notes and swap lies. It's always great to see how many neighbors are also instrument makers, but I even found out that I have neighbors within easy walking distance who are building instruments! Small world.

I see you caught me talking to John Arnold in the bottom photo. We were discussing pre-war D-28s. After that talk I've decided that one of those will be my next project. Thanks again Paul for hosting the get- together.

Hi Everyone,
I hope everyone is doing well. Just a quick reminder that our next meeting is coming up this Sunday, June 9, at 2PM.
I received several inquiries on our Facebook page so I am sending out this group email. If you are a Facebook user look for us at East TN Luthier Guild.
Looks like we will also have a few new members at this meeting.
I am trying to design and print some type of "membership" card for our group. As a perk from Woodcraft, the store gives a 10% discount during the summer months (June-Aug) to members of any Woodcraft sponsored group. The normal sale type restrictions do apply. Ask me and I will explain. We did get some nice figured Maple blanks in this past week that will make real nice guitar backs or tops. We still have the Indian Rosewood back/side sets available.
I look forward to seeing everyone this Sunday.

Paul

I can't make it either, but I look forward to learning more about the membership/sponsor group.
