How does one include a photo in their posts without the thumbnail sort of apparatus provided by the software?

I'm seeing lots of people include photos in their posts as if they were part of the text...a full sized image in the main body...and I can't, for the life of me, figure out how that is done.

I use the img tag and link to my own server.

So the photo MUST be published at another site and a link provided to it in order to achieve this?

Not necessarily. You can publish your images via the image poster, then go back and edit your post. Since the images have been uploaded to the server, they have a home. All you have to do is get the image URL and img tag it.

I can create a quick tutorial if you want.

Thank you very much for the offer but your comments above were sufficient. I made it happen in a post in the electric section. That's exactly what I was looking for although it is easier if the photo is posted somewhere else on the internet.

Thanks again.

You know ... another solution could be to increase the default image size of that picture (which is actually not a thumbnail ... it's like 300x pixels). It should get set to, say 800 pixels wide. Then there would rarely be reason to click on it. I'm sure that is a configurable size in the posting section of phpBB (okay I'm sorry to make you cringe, Lance!!!!) :-)

Looking into this now
