I want to get a feel for what form of social media everyone is using. This will help me
figure out what to plan in our future forum updates.

Thanks!

Bulletin board at the supermarket! I've thought about signing up on Facebook, but I'm still not sure if it is an investment in time that I would enjoy. I do enjoy my interaction on this forum, though! Lots of knowledge, humour and humanity.

None for me. Twitter is too hard to navigate anything more than a couple days old, haven't really looked into Pinterest, and Stalkerbook creeped me out from the first time I heard of it... and much worse now that it's Big Brother Book, pretty much owned by the government/banking system after that whole stock market fiasco with it.

I much prefer independent forums like this, or instant messaging/email for direct communication with friends.

Social media is about 50% of my day job so I use it all. Personally I like twitter because I can follow some cool people. But I presume that you are talking about the guitar business here. I don't use any. The biggest thing I see when people I work for want to start in social media is that they find out they don't have the time for it and let it dwindle. If you go down the road to social media you have to keep it current and active and make it fun for your followers otherwise it just amounts to bad advertising. It's a commitment for sure and it is NOT free.

Facebook, when my IT duties require, or when I'm in the mood to see cute pictures of kittens and hedgehogs... which is, um, about never...!

I use facebook, but I prefer a beer, a campfire, some friends and some instruments.

If you are thinking of specific (near) future things, you might mention them here, Lance, so we might be less generic in our responses, if that helps.

Ok, so what I had in mind was to incorporate a Facebook LIKE button in to each and every post. So that if I see something I like, be it a picture of a guitar, or a method to scrap bindings down, I can "LIKE' it and it will appear on MY facebook page.
NEXT
I would like to be able to add a Pinterest button to each post so that if we see something we like i.e. guitar porn I can PIN it to my Pinterest board.
Lastly would be a Twitter button. I don't use twitter often if ever but I know a LOT of people that do. This would allow them to tweet some of there work or comments posted here.

There are several more social media type buttons id like to add but this would be a great start for now.

Thoughts?

I use facebook and instagram but thats mainly for photos. I have started my own guitar FB page so, it would be cool to link it all.

I completed the survey, and presently don't use any social media sites. Like many of the above I much prefer face to face or voice to voice interactions. Right now this site is my only social media site - I consider it that anyway. Thanks to everyone who has assisted me directly or indirectly with their posts. Since I'm recently retired I may look into Facebook in the future; seems like many of my relatives communicate this way, especially to get photos to everyone.
