Hello, I want to read a bit....

are these two books from Mark French working like Part 1 and Part 2, like the book-sets from Gore and Somogyi, or are they more like Old version and New Version?

From the table of contents, it looks like there is a fair bit of overlap and there is no construction guidance given
I'm really not too sure what the point of either of them is.

These are textbooks specifically designed for the mechanical engineering technology class MET490G at Purdue university. Mark French teaches the course on engineering quality in manufacturing using the guitar as a model. Each student builds a guitar and conducts quality inspections along the way. Unfortunately the course was cancelled my senior year there, which was a real bummer since I overloaded my previous semesters to give myself extra time during my senior year to take this class. I did get to meet Mark French, and he is a super nice guy. Some of his other projects include helping Taylor develop their expression system (I know there is a wide variety of opinions surrounding this system, but I for one like it), and making a supersonic ping pong ball gun.
