John Greven: A one man factory....! Over 2000 instruments made in 50 years of building. Uses aliphatic resin glue..........OH my gosh...........says he can't see any difference in tone compared to HHG. For open back tuners he uses Grover Sta-Tites.........................won't use Waverlies unless the customer insists and they must supply. See theFretboard Journal site for podcast 60 with John. Says at the time of his demise he thinks he may be found face down on his bench with a smile on his face and a chisel in his hand. Quite a guy to say the least. CONGRATS John...!!!!!

I have only seen one of his guitars - at Shane Neifer's no less.
A lovely piece of work.
Aliphatic resin glue = Titebond? Tons of builders swear by it.

Greven's the standard of a hand builder to me, or a master craftsman in general. Deadly efficient but without sacrificing quality, just makes the cut right the first time. My standard of reasonable efficiency gets crazy for anyone with a CNC in their shop :)

Tom Dorward is like that; he's crazy fast and I'm told he barely ever needs to measure anything.
