Gotta get the bandura band together and cover Wild Thing.

You make everything groovy....Wild Thing!

I have absolutely no clue what this is about.
But, the picture does remind me of the time I saw Ritchie Blackmore playing a lute - He's come a long way since Smoke on the Water.

I wasn't offended at first, but now that you think I'm someone who'd get offended at such a thing I'm actually quite offended.

I would be angry if I had to try and play an instrument with so many strings too!

And for the record, Lance's server doesn't have enough space to hold all of the "this one time, at bandura camp stories" I have.

Andy, what I know about banduras could be printed on a grain of rice (with a frazzled sharpie [by a chimpanzee {with Parkinsons}]). Do you have any videos of you playing one? I would love to see and hear how it is done!

I'm not terribly thrilled with this performance but here's one that a friend posted on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ShIePyK ... ure=relmfu

The instrument's a little out of tune and the sound quality sucks but I don't have much better to offer.

I also play with an ensemble that's been around almost 100 years. Started in Kyiv but moved to the states after the war. We recently did a concert series with a vocal only group from Winnipeg a few weeks ago and theres some very good video of that here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oms5uq2fiN8

That's some video of us and the choir from Winnipeg.

This is audio only but, here's something a friend of mine played on an instrument I built for him. When I heard this, it was my most satisfying moment luthiery wise. Before he had this instrument, I thought his playing was a bit mechanical but what I learned was that he just didn't have an instrument to give him his voice. I was practically in tears: https://publish.comcast.net/dpath/tOF5P ... 8IQCo4MsZ/

Wow! having seen and heard it played, I am even more impressed. That is awesome. And that chior was great. You also look great for your age (unless you are not a charter member of that group). . .

Wow. That audio file is great! I never knew what a bandura sounded like. It has a harpsichord-ish, piano like quality. Outstanding Andy!

Great palying too.

Andy is a regular at our Detroit area Luthier meetings and always blesses us with a tune or two on the Bandura. Always one of the highlights of the meeting.

I have my guess as to the identity of this friend. I think I will sit here for a few more minuets and silently appreciate how perfect that poster is. . . Would it be creepy if I had it printed and hung it up in my workshoppe?

I really need new friends....it's not anyone you know!

And no, it wouldn't be any creepier than the poster of me you already have up in your shop.

Speaking of creepy, I checked the smoke detector and found your little device; big mistake tipping me off that you knew what was in my shop! That is almost enough to make me take down my alter to your 'stache. . . ALMOST. . .
