Last week I laminated a double sided OM walnut with veneer, and really like the stiff sides. Today I laminated vertical grain e.maple to a piece of balsa veneer using white gorilla polyurethane glue. Has anyone out there used balsa for veneering sides? . I got the idea from the GAL article on laminating double bass sides using silk and maple. Gore/s book illustrates a spruce top with balsa/cf , am just wondering if others have done it , and what were the results? I/m guessing one could do the same for the back e.g. 2 part lamination of rosewood and balsa veneer..Also does anyone have a good source for balsa veneer sheets? Thanks.
