I'm building a couple of J40s (John Hall supplied parts, client wanted very close match). Installed one rosette today. Came out pretty good, I think! I did use Zip Flex.

This is a pic of an actual J40 rosette;

The rosette looks great Mike! I can't wait to get my hands on some Zipflex myself.

That turned our great, Mike!! Zipflex is great, isn't it?

May I ask which color/shade and width Zipflex you used?

ZF-GAH, 0.064. I actually thought I picked Blue Pua out of my stores. But I laid out the shell strips that John sent and they looked like an ideal match. So, it's Green Abalone Heart. 0.064 is the shell width, the liner makes it 0.075. But it works!

In the past, I've done a group buy for Zip Flex. Probably a third of the order was out of country. But Lacey put an end to that. Canada is apparently back in play since Kevin created a distributorship up there. If we can create enough interest, we can do it again. It is a fantastic product.

I really like building from commercial designs. I learn a lot from that. One amazing thing I learned here is "less is more". If you will look closely at the J40 rosette and my version, you should note that the 0.064 shell looks wider than it really is! This is in large pat due to the thick black strips surrounding it. When I studied the real J40, I was amazed that under calipers, the shell was only 0.065" wide!
