What is the best way to attach piezo discs to the underside of the bridge plate?

K & K? - recommend superglue http://www.kksound.com/pdf/puremini.pdf
Double sided tape can be used to find the sweet spot before gluing, or can be used with a loss of signal amplitude (volume) if you don't like the thought of a permanent installation.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Medium thickness CA. K&K has a special extra thin double sided tape that they also ship with their pickups, but if I remember right they say the output is increased by about 20% when they are glued. I have always glued mine.
