And all this time I've only been using two drops. Nonetheless, I still manage to glue my fingers together.

Let's not leave out the folks mis-using epoxy, hot glue guns, white glues, etc.
I could write a book about goofy stuff like this in luthiery - and I don't mean just adhesives!

Years ago, I popped the top off of a fiddle I was repairing. The soundpost came off with the top--superglued. Didn't even make contact with the back...

Brian, that looks about right to me.
Of course, I would have used a bit more glue than that.
I'm only comfortable when they will not come off.

You'd have been proud. I was scared it was either not coming off without shattering or was going to pull a big chunk of guitar with it. I carefully wicked in acetone at the fretboard for a few minutes to soften it up some. Had one a few weeks ago that the owner decided to try and glue some loose frets back in with superglue. Made a real mess of it and by the looks of it I'd say he glued his finger down with one of the frets.

Forget glue, screws are the answer.

Wait until you get one on the bench with carpet tacks holding on the parts....

This came in a couple months ago and made me chuckle:

I was shocked - shocked I tell you - that the bondo and nails didn't hold it together under tension

I would have used pneumatic ring-shanked nails and Elmer's craft glue, myself. laughing6-hehe

Ah, not a bad idea, David.
Then again, one could always back out the screws.
Perhaps a steel nut (Titanium on deluxe models) which is then welded to the truss rod?

Sorry Brian...
