I have some wood laying around,
and 4 Gotoh tuners (cheap ones)
and I could build a tenor electric lap steel by the end of the year.
Another tenor lap job?
Sure, why not.
It's the pickups I'm worried (NOT)
about.

Time and a place for both, if there is interest, I will grab the bull, not sure if I should reach for the horns or a shovel. I am honestly not expecting any interest, but feel like I should at least suggest such an idea.
From the past challenge, I started with a basic electric, finished that and made the uke that I submitted, the electric is slated to be raffled to make some money to buy some stuff for my school wood shop class. Every one in my class will be a part winner.

If we do it like before, then I'll gladly be the sponsor. Consider me volunteered.

If we take comfyfoots suggestion, then all we need is a coordinator. I can see the appeal of his idea, but it sounds awfully complex and time consuming.

I have to agree , I like the idea cf but its gonna take way more time than most have to coordinate.
Phillip , if you want to sponser then change the rules as you see fit , decide on a instrument or builders choice and put it out there . The one sponsering should be able to set the paramaters.

The complication factor does go up, but so do the benefits. I do not see how this needs to become an either or though, no reason we could not do both. Perhaps to simplify instead of a regional effort, those few who may be interested in creating a donation instrument can just get together and do 1. I will happily organize such an effort if there is any interest. Any one interested may PM me or rob@shastaguitar.com.

Sounds like a good idea , Ask Lance if He will set up a " Community donation Instrument" Sub Heading , or start a Thread and lets see what happens ! [:Y:]

I won't lie, I would like to do the original idea. I like the idea of having to work hard to win the prize. Winning and loosin is a part of life. And it will have having a deadline to get it done. Ye other idea is cool but it's something I probably won't join in on.

I am guessing that would be the loneliest forum I will ever venture into. If I receive interest from at least 2 individuals on this I will pursue it, perhaps a thread will garner some interest, but I am not really on a mission here, just thought I would suggest an alternative that I would be willing to support if there were interest.

Thanks for stepping up, Phillip. If you sponsor the build, I'm in. Kudos to those interested in the charity build, it's a great idea. Just not where I am right now....
