I wouldn't think so. It is brand new and tacks very well. Maybe I should try to get drunk off it..... laughing6-hehe

When PVA type glues go off they smell very much like vinegar. If yours smells like grapes maybe its a really fresh batch? :D

If your concerned there is info around which tells you how to decipher the date of manufacture coding that is stamped on the TB bottle, just do a search on this forum or google it.

Cheers

Kim

Send a PM to hugh.evans

He works at Franklin - the Mfg. of Titebond.

I'm a former Franklin employee now, but I can still help more than adequately. What is the lot number? Also, are the color, consistency, and flow properties normal? There's not much that can go wrong with TB Original, unless it dries out. The vinegar odor is a characteristic of TB II.

Hugh thanks for that tip on TB II on the vinegar odor. I always wondered about that. Thanks...Mike

Where might I find the lot number?

It should be above the back label stamped onto the plastic of the bottle and start with the letter "A" followed by a string of numbers. The "A" is a manufacturing code for America... you'll never see product from the plant in China unless you're in southeast Asia. This is followed by the last digit of the year, two digit month, two digit date, and the batch number. As an example, a bottle produced today would have a lot number of A30709. The system was implemented in April of 2009, so you don't need to worry about having a really ancient bottle from 2003.
