Did I participate in the offending thread?

Because (in the words of King George) if we did utterly abandon ourselves I should like so very much to remember.

Dang it, Zlurgh...I don't remember whether you participated either. My sense is you did not, as my sides have not been aching.

Where's the darn "Like" button here anyway?

You can always use the [:Y:]
I know, it sucks. Not quite the [like] button.
I promise I will eventually get that option written in to the software.

That's true. Snarky, smug, indirect comments should NEVER be interpreted as insults. That's just the idiocy of the stupid person taking things wrong.

I failed to notice this sign before I made my "needs its own goat pic" comment. My bad. No goats please. Even heavily armed ones.

There is nothing was said that was addressed at someone, much less with intent to offend anyone. The misunderstanding is often on the receiver's end, imparting their own meaning in one's comments and then reframing those comments as personal unto themselves. That's half the problem in having discussions here - others at times take offense where none was directed, implied or inferred . If people's comments were discussed on face value, instead of inferring meaning and/or personalizing responses - discussions would be far more interesting and with far less devolving fanfare.

Apologizing for something one did not do only further justifies ad hominem interaction.

Filippo

Thank you Filippo !

Right...don't let anyone get your goat. It only serves to raise your blood pressure and shorten your life. It's far healthier (and more fun) to get your own goat.

That reminds me of when I worked for a sausage maker in Stockbridge MI, right out of Highschool. His mother would come from the old country (Germany) each summer for a long visit and he would slaughter a goat for the big dinner. He use to pop them right dead in the eyeball with a 22.

I just had the most surreal experience and felt I had to share it with the group, as I know many of you will appreciate it. Toggling through my active applications I came across what looked like the PC-T thread, still alive and well. It sent a chill up my spine since I was certain it had met its end earlier today. I was unaware that I had a second instance of my browser running in which the now-deceased thread was still visible, as if nothing had changed.

For a brief moment it brought a smile to my face, but I quickly realized what I was witnessing was only the flesh that remained, albeit only temporarily - the spirit had moved on to that great stage (archive forum) in the sky. Once I closed my browser it would be gone forever, but I knew I had to do it. It looked happy and vital on the surface, but as I looked closer I could see the life was slipping out of it. I gripped my mouse and snapped a photo (screen shot) of what may have been its last breath. Then I closed the browser and turned away.

Friends, hug your loved ones and tell them you love them…every day. Life is fragile and we should appreciate every moment we have with them. The "shooting stars" that bring special meaning to our lives seem to leave us far too soon.

Oh, and take lots of photos!

That is a tough one for sure. I feel for ya.
I am poor at both typing, and explaining my self in the written word. English and grammar skills are weak at best.
I sure wouldn't want to have someone judge me with out actually talking face to face with them.
If all the world knew of me was by my posting on forums, I would mostly likely be very misunderstood.
Thank goodness for guitar shows ;)

Having those sorts of discussions in a public forum can expose commonly held misconceptions, which can help us all (and save us money!) in the long run, despite their sometimes colorful nature. Some folks like color, some don't, but if we all are better informed in the end, then I believe the journey is worthwhile.

Kinda like making sausage. ;)

I have become a bit soft and perhaps more dough headed in my old age. I try not to judge people by how well they can explain or defend their ideas against both logical and rhetorical attack. I have found that even though a person may not be the most adept expressing themselves with the spoken or written word, they might still be right. And there are some things I accept on faith that I would fall short of explaining in a logical way.
But I understand there are times a person needs to hold someone's feet to the fire. But doing so may get one's fingers burned.
