Yes that would work fine and you're very welcome Liam. The latch system does seem to mean both hands are needed to operate the device though - if you're measuring a number of points rapidly and needing to get out of minimise mode between each one.

I added another video as some asked to see the display while measuring. Hope this helps.

Here is a pictureof the Rounded tip probe. I did not have a violin or mandolin handy but the probe is shown with a 1.2' pipe for reference.

The probes are now ready. I redesigned both the flat and rounded tip probe to accomodate everyone. Both probes now will use either 3/8" or 1/2" balls. Both balls have a phenomenal 1/1000th" resolution. The 3/8' ball will be used up to 5mm and the 1/2" ball can go to 15mm. The 3/8" ball should satisfy most people who use f-holes but a 1/4" option maybe requested.

Thanks for all your input

The most recent development is MAG-ic Probe BLU. This is an option that adds Bluetooth connectivity to the unit to wirelessly communicate with your PC.
You can upload any JPG picture or drawing of the instrument. As you do your measurements you use your mouse to click on the picture at the location you are measuring and the current reading will be transferred to the picture. This can be saved or printed out for comparisons or catalog. See example picture below
This has already proven quite a popular feature and the first batch of BLU devices has already been shipped out.
I have also made a website where more details can be seen. http://www.magicprobe.net
Work in progress, thanks
