Hey Pat,

It may be a bit obvious that's why I did not mention it earlier. But perhaps glue contamination during construction has sealed the wood causing the light patches under the rest of the finish...pva type glues are very good at doing that, you can sand the wood until smooth but sometimes its just not deep enough to remove the penetration of the glue..particulary toward end grain where it gets wicked in more deeply. Anyhow, good to see that you have it sorted. [:Y:]

Hi Kim,

Yeah, I had thought about glue contamination as well but the spots seemed kind of random and away from glue joints so I'd be surprised if that's what it was. I'll be doing another neck in about a month and you can be sure that I will be meticulous in the application of the isolator, sanding and keeping things clean. I can hardly wait.
