OK guys and gals. Been looking around for new bindings and purflings to carry and the choices are overwhelming. We certainly can't carry them all. So what would you folks like to see us carry? idunno

Black/pear/black, instead of the usual b/w/b. Much less shouty and in your face, more subtle and blends with most wood schemes. Doesn't have to be pear, any similar colour fruit wood would work. Dave and I are having a bit of trouble getting it in the right sizes now, so I can guarentee a couple of orders. Needs to be deep enough for gluing to binding as side purfling, so minimum 2.2mm

+1 to something more subtle than white fiber. I like black/maple/black, in 10/10/10, 20/20/20, and 10/40/10 sizes. But pear would work too.

As mentioned in the other thread, keep on the lookout for African blackwood in suitable size/quality for bindings. Also holly, pink ivory, quilted koa, dark Honduran rosewood, camatillo rosewood (D.congestiflora), bois de rose (D.maritima), pernambuco (yeah right), curly ebony (might be impossible to bend though...), and spalted mango.

Basswood purflings are also a good choice for not-in-your-face white.

Oh, and curly spalted maple bindings would be awesome as well, especially with matching end graft and rosette material.

And add 10/20/10 and 10/10 sizes of the black/light purflings to my list. Would combine up nicely for a finer version of what I recently did, which was a combo of 10/40/10 and 10/10/10, for a total of 10/40/20/10/10. It looks good, but is rather bold.

Bob, for me maple wouldn't work, too pale, I think it really needs to be a fruit wood. As to thickness of plies, well that's difficult as I have always bought metric purflings but the nearest imperial measurements would be 10/30/10 with a depth of 0.100", the centre pear dominates the purfling, being framed by the black.

This is the purfling I mean (this is a OOO-12 I made with some of your first superb offering of Black Limba), you can see the ratio of black to pear.
