When John posted about his new DVD a few weeks ago on locating and gluing the bridge, I ordered it because I wanted to see what I could take away. I also ordered his DVD's on making the rims and making the neck, which I think were some of his first.

[:Y:] [:Y:] [:Y:]

Three thumbs up! There's a lot of really good information in here that will be impacting my technique immediately! Not only that, but I watched the rim DVD immediately before putting this one in, and lets just say the video production has improved :D Initially I wasn't sure if there was enough to the procedure to make an entire DVD about it, but I'm really happy with the purchase. Not to give anything away (it's a new release after all), but the "thing" he does with the two screws alone was enough to make me completely happy.

You can order it here: http://www.mayesguitars.com/newdvd.html

Thanks for putting these together, John!

Howdy James,
Yeap, I got the dvd last week and watched it. I like the section where he marks out the area and routs off the finish where the bridge sits. Good info there. Listen, I love all of John's vids and this would be an excellent lesson for someone starting out. So, if you've never glued a bridge on a guitar this vids for you.

The video quality is definitely better than his earlier productions.

I say two thumbs up !!

But, will it play in your computer?
I have a couple of John's earlier dvd's that will not play right in any of my three Mac computers, but will play just fine in a dvd machine connected to a tv. It's probably some anti-copying protection that's knows when you are playing it in a computer and won't allow it. The video starts playing and then starts erroring out. Saying something about bad sectors on the dvd. That's typical anti-pirating software built into the dvd.

9 times out of 10 it's actually a codec problem. Search online for a codec pack and it should fix the problem.

He doesn't benefit from this though. If I remember correctly from past discussions, he doesn't get any royalties or anything when you rent. So they effectively buy his DVD's and share them for profit. I may be wrong, but this is my recollection.
