Random question. Personally, I don't like pickguards. I like to scratch my own character into my personal guitars. What about the rest of you? Especially some of you pro. builders--do most guys want pickguards or not?

As above, really depends on the client and how they play. If the client is a flatpicker, I suggest at least a clear static cling guard.

The customer gets to decide. For me, I need a pick guard and when done right I think they can be tasteful.

I like to see the wood, so no pickguards on mine, and the guitars that I have not kept have been given away, and those have gone to people that were not particular. (Dare I say "picky?")

I prefer clear pick guards or none except dreds get one. Of course if I'm working on something for someone else then its their choice.
