I just finished my first (an 00-18 acoustic) and it took from Mid January to Mid October...10 months. I hope the next one only takes 4 months.

I know a guitar (classical or steel string) can be built between 60 hours to 180 hours - depends on how you want to use your time.

Start building and log your time - your second build will go much faster.

I've only built about 7 or 8 electric guitars. Simple designs. I kept track of one and had it done in 40 hours. I can probably get an acoustic guitar done in about 80. The thing that kills me is I get the construction done fast and then the finishing takes almost just as long or longer. So in terms of days, an acoustic guitar probably takes me 6-8 weeks.

Early this summer I built a steel string guitar in a week, including finish. Nice "curderoy" effect on the top, but otherwise it turned out fine (me, on the other hand... [xx(] Never again!) Usually it takes me 2-3 months from start to finish to build a guitar, (including a 4 week cure time for the nitro finish), but then I have several different instruments in various stages of completion simultaneously.

About 60 hours for an accoustic for me. That works out to around 3months usually

Normally around 20-ish a year.

Been as many as 36 in a year.

Have built an acoustic (woodworking not finish) in 2 days.

I've built a mandolin in about 15 hours. (not with finishing)
An acoustic guitar in < 40 hours. (again, no finish)
I have a serious patience issue/caffeine addiction.

basic guitar is about 80 hours. Fancy purfling, inlay, etc can run up to 120.
F5 mando ~150 hours.
flat top bouzouki ~ the same as a guitar.
