Hello, it's been years since I have been reading this forum. I have even writen a few things, but I have never introduced myself. Well, I am a guitar maker in Spain. I build classical guitars, mostly 6, but some 7 strings. I follow the traditional Spanish style of making. I have studied with José Luis Romanillos, Jaume Bosser and Rafael López Porras. I also know some makers in Granada with whom I've had great conversations about guitar making. I will try to post more often from now on.

Here you have some photos of one of my last guitars. It's a seven string model tuned as Russian folk guitar. Spanish sound with Russian configuration. As you can see, a cedar top with Indian Rosewood back and sides. Baljak machines. I hope you like it.

Beautiful work. I love the idea of a seven string, not sure I could play it however.

Hola, Carlos,
Your guitar is quite beautiful. I admire your work very much. Also, I assure you that your English is much, MUCH better than my Spanish. Welcome to the forum. Please post often. You will find many friends here, and I am sure you have much experience that will help the less experienced members here. I will include myself among the less experienced members who will learn from your posts!

Best regards,
Patrick

Welcome to posting on the OLF - I hope to see many more of your posts.
I do like your work.
How are you finding things as a professional in this economic climate?

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Like it? Love it! Absolutamente me encanta! Un trabajo muy bonito.

Where in Spain do you live? I just got back from a two week vacation in Spain and had a wonderful time in your country.

Thank you all for your kind words. They are very important for me.

Colin, of course these are bad times for all of us. I consider important making the best quality product, as well as having competitive prices. For me, the help of my family is invaluable.

Jfmckenna, I live in Petrer, Alicante province. It's very near the Mediterranean coast.

Best regards,

Carlos

Carlos,
I'm drooling over that guitar. Beautifull!!! My next project is to build a 7 string. I have all the components and ready to go...but need to finish building my new house and shop first.

If you ever wish to do a trade ....let me know.

Kent Bailey
