Anyone know what handle will fit the long narrow tang?

Why not make one from a cutoff dowel . . Drill hole. heat end of rasp , push down dowel on heated end of rasp

Thanks Ernie, I had thought about that but didn't know about the heating part. How hot do you have to get it, and how do you determine the hole size? Do you measure how far into the handle you want it to go and make the hole slightly smaller than the width of the tang at that point? Wendy

Many (most?) hardware stores carry an assortment of file handles; you could take your rasp in to see which seems to fit best...

Wendy heat the end of the rasp till it gets red hot , hold with visegrips, plunge the end into a dowel, Drill hole, the diameter of half way up the tang. Keep a jar of water handy, if wood burns or smokes. Plunge in water. Use a good hard dowel e.g. Hard maple from hardware store. I make all my own chisel/file etc handles . Problem is hardware stores only fit one type of hand . This way you can customize the handle to fit your needs . Makes working a lot more pleasnt E.G if the diameter of the tang half way up is 3/16in drill 3/16in hole, the hot tang will hopefully bottom out at the end of the file. Keep the dowel in a vise for safety reasons . Use in a well ventilated open area .
