Any advice on using Port Orford Cedar for a steel string guitar top? Is good, bad or in between? Any workability issues?
I have the chance to get a couple of tops that I can stash for the future. Thanks to all, in advance.

As long as they look good re: no runout, perfectly quartersawn, and have the density you're looking for, I'd go for it. As a species, for steel string soundboards, I've heard good things.

I'm using a set for an OM right now. It seems to plane very nicely. I love the smell but when you have a shop full of shavings, it gets a little overwhelming. My whole apartment smelled and it was overpowering in the room I use for a shop. I imagine it would be even worse when sanding it.

I heard there are mild toxins in the wood, so be careful when working with it.
