I have tried stripper, scraping ,and routing off the finish with a dremel on my stew Mac base! And haven't been pleased with the results with any of these methods .
What are your preferred methods? gaah

Tell us a little about the finish and what is the finish on? If a luthiers scraper won't take it off, I don't know what will. Pals, Vic.

Klean Strip KS-3 Premium stripper. Has taken off anything I have put it up against. Wear good protective gear! Stuff burns exposed skin pretty badly real quick.

I have been using Citristrip stripping gel and like it. It is thick and should be brushed on in a heavy coat. In 30 minutes, with EM6000, the gel dries, and the finish and stripper come right off sort of like rubber cement. I only strip to within 1/8 or so of scribe and use a very sharp chisel to carefully remove the last bit of finish. It has worked well for me so far.
