The newest Luthier Tips du Jour instructional video is on Youtube. The topic is pickguard removal. Subtitles are available in both English and Portuguese and you can translate them into any other language by using the CC option on Youtube.

Should you mention top run-out? Or the possibility that the pick guard is melted on to bare wood? Shrinkage cracks in the top? Maybe I'm being too cautious.

Yes, all of those could be an issue when removing a pickguard.
Anyone care to post a personal experience?

A little off subject but looking for some advise on installing a wooden pickguard on a new build? I.e finish then glue to body??? Or glue on then shoot lacquer ?
