I used to glue it with epoxy, and put it into the channel before the abalone is installed. As a result my fingers are completed glued as well ... :oops:

So, the inch long, or less, straight pieces look curved when they are done? Is that the idea? Almost an optical illusion.

They are curved after installation. They just conform to the radius. If you want to use a radius piece in the waist you can.
