This topic comes up once in a while so I thought I’d throw a little skin the in the game this time around. If you are looking for one of the best guitar cases available for an OLF SJ or if you are building for a client with the same requirements, an Ameritage case is an obvious option. They have a custom case available that fits the OLF SJ like a glove and is built like a Sherman tank. I have one and it’s an extremely fine guitar case. However, if you are looking for something that is not road warrior class but is still good quality and lighter and less expensive than the Ameritage, the TKL cases are a good option. This has been mentioned before but I recently purchased a TKL case which arrived this morning and the fit was quite good so I thought I’d pass along the details for anyone in the market for an SJ case.

I purchased the case from http://www.casesandmore.com. It is the TKL Grand Concert case, model number TKL-7805. Although you can slip a finger in between the guitar and the inside face of the case in several spots, the overall fit is quite snug. The lower bout dimension for both the case and my guitar is 15.5” and the guitar actually compresses the interior foam/fur lining at the LB slightly giving a very snug fit. And the price is quite affordable.

I probably would have purchased the TKL-8805 “Prestige” model which is an upgraded model relative to the 7805 but this supplier did not carry the full TKL lineup. Anyone know of any on-line vendor who carries the full TKL line of guitar cases?

Here are the dimensions if anyone wants to check their guitar for compatibility.

My SJ----- TKL-7805
UB-------- 11 5/8---- 12 1/4
LB-------- 15 1/2---- 15 1/2
Waist---- 9 7/8---- 10 3/4
Depth---- 4 3/8---- 5 1/4

Thanks for the tip!

You wouldn't happen to know which case would fit the OLF MJ?

First Quality Music used to carry (or could get) the full TKL line, but I don't know if that is true now. fqms.com

I get my TKL Pro cases from FQMS. Great customer service and their prices are the best I've found. (The Premier line you listed goes for $90.95 at FQMS.) The Pro cases are $150.95 and I'm very happy with them. While I don't see a Grand Concert model in their lineup, the OM/OOO case is pretty close in measurements. It's 1/4" deeper, but the upper bout looks like a better fit than the case you spec'd.

•Length: 41.000"
•Upper Bout: 12.000"
•Lower Bout: 15.500"
•Depth: 5.500"
•Waist: 10.750"

WOW .. 150 for a 8905 (single arch top only) .. I get the 9105 (top of the line, double arch case) here in Toronto for a little over 100 bucks ... the 8905 is under 100 ...but then again, they make them in Quebec, Canada ...

Thanks for the links guys. I'm going to need another case soon and I'll check them out.

Nkwak - go to the TKL website http://www.tkl.com and check the dimensions they list for their cases and then pick the best match. Seems that a snug LB fit will help compensate for looseness elsewhere if you have several "near fit" options to choose from.

Wow, Tony. I only wish I could get them for that. FQMS has about the best prices I've found.
