Here is my rig and some of the work I am doing with it. I made this unit in less than an hour. It is made of salvaged ironwood from decking scraps. the arms are long enough so I can do a ukulele rosette or an entire headstock. If you make too small a unit you will be limited in what you can do. You begin to lose accuracy at severe arm angles.

I'd like to try and build one of these polygraphs sometime just for fun and to see if it would work with my 400K rpm hand piece.
I can't seem to find any drawings of it anywhere yet so I'll have to keep looking at pictures I guess.:)

I know I'm resurrecting an old topic, but in Chris Paulick's post he had stated to "rack" the hinges. Does anyone know what exactly this means? Excuse my ignorance.

If the hinges are installed perfectly, there will be a bit of slop, a hinge is not a precision bearing, by racking Chris means to get them in a bit angled or off kilter, that will create a bit of friction and prevent the little bit of wiggle jiggle that the hinges have from being an issue.
